Dottie's second surgery revealed that the rest of her small intestines were completely dead (save maybe 3cm). The surgeons removed the necrotic intestines and attached the few cm of good intestines to her colon.
Thus begins recovery...
Dottie's first job is to recover from major surgery. She is on pain medications, a breathing tube and lots of monitoring for her comfort and stability. They are watching for healing of the incision, any signs of infection, and her general well-being. There is no time line for recovery.
